The NZ Sports Car Racing Championship series is back, with the 2022/23 Season once again being supported by Radical New Zealand.

Round 1 of the NZ Sports Car Racing series kicked off at the OctoberFast Meeting at Manfeild held on 22-23 October 2022, featuring plenty of new and old faces and a number of Radical sportscars on the grid.

Tim Edgell made a return in the Albany ITM Radical SR10 after dominating the Open Class in the previous season – winning 12 out of 12 races. Tim was joined by two more Radical SR10s driven by Rob Anderson and Steve Sharpe, and a red Radical RXC Spyder driven by Garth Piesse. With Nick Rae competing in the 2-Litre class in the Radical Clubsport, this made for five Radicals competing.

Tim made a great start in race 1 and went on to win all three races in the Open Class. He still had to work hard to stay in front in the last two races as Dean McCarroll in his Juno pushed him hard, taking the fastest lap of the weekend and finishing only two-tenths of a second behind Edgell. Rob finished 2 out of 3 races in 4th in the Open Class, taking home some valuable points.

Overall the weekend provided plenty of close and entertaining racing. We are looking forward to the 2nd round back at Manfield at the MG Classic meeting on 12-13 November.
